This notice explains how the StarTimesGO Kenya storefront plans to handle personal data when a customer browses the site, contacts support or places an order. It should be read together with the Terms & conditions and the policies linked from the footer.
Who is responsible for your data
The legal entity acting as data controller and its Kenya contact address are awaiting business confirmation. Until then, privacy questions about this test store can be sent to ec_ke@startimes.com.cn.
Data we collect
- Identity and contact data, including name, email address and telephone number.
- Billing and delivery data, including address, town/city, county and postcode.
- Order, product, delivery, support and return records.
- Payment status and transaction references supplied by the M-PESA payment service. The storefront does not ask for or store an M-PESA PIN.
- Technical and usage data such as IP address, browser/device information, security logs, cookies and similar identifiers.
Why we use it
We use necessary data to operate checkout, process and support an order, communicate payment and delivery status, prevent fraud and misuse, maintain security, comply with legal/accounting obligations and improve the storefront. Marketing messages will require a separate valid permission where applicable and will include a way to opt out.
Who receives it
Data may be processed by authorised StarTimesGO personnel and service providers needed for website hosting, WooCommerce operations, M-PESA payment processing, transactional email, customer support, fraud/security monitoring, delivery and returns. The final provider list, processing locations and cross-border safeguards must be confirmed before launch. We do not sell customer personal data.
Cookies
Necessary cookies keep the cart, checkout, security and session features working. Any analytics or marketing cookies must be inventoried and, where required, presented through an appropriate consent choice before they are enabled.
Retention and security
Personal data will be kept only for defined operational and legal purposes and protected using appropriate access, organisational and technical controls. Exact retention periods are awaiting confirmation and must be documented before launch.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable Kenya law, a person may ask to be informed about use of their data, request access or correction, object to certain processing, and request deletion of false or misleading data. Requests can be sent to ec_ke@startimes.com.cn. Identity may need to be verified before a request is completed. A person may also raise a concern with Kenya’s Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when the storefront’s processing practices or applicable requirements change and will show the effective date of the approved production notice.
